The Wedding

... back to the PhilBash '99 index ; download zipfile of pictures (1240k)

The wedding of Phil and Heather was definitely the high point of the Bash. The bride and groom were in medaeval costume, along with KD, Thomas and (in his own memorable way) Ramen.

It began with a general mingling of Bashers in the carport while the wedding team made last-minute preparations inside. When things were ready to go, the guests were shepherded out onto the grass to watch Phil and Heather walk from the carport to a shady wooded area where the ceremony proper was held. LoveBear - in his capacity as a minister of the Universal Life Church - officiated, leading Phil, Heather and then Hannah through the words he had arranged specially for the occasion. Dennis was Best Man and presented the ring. It was concluded, of course, with a kiss.

Afterwards, those assembled retired to the carport again, for a combination post-wedding wind-down and photo-shoot. Wanderer excelled himself as de facto Bash Bard by reading out a poem he had composed for the occasion. Food was laid on. The vast pile of presents that had been lurking in the living room was finally opened - it included a number of unexpected gifts such as a song JT wrote and performed for Phil and Heather.

After the gifts (and the film) had been exhausted, Jacob Fox presented the newlyweds with the proceeds from a collection he'd made among the Bashers, for the purpose of letting them get a superb hotel room for the night. And after _that_ - well, I think we'll use a bit of artistic licence and leave them driving off into the sunset.

The pre-wedding gathering.
Another shot of the guests honing their mingling skills.
Thomas, in a rather nice costume. (The shades and cola are part of the Bohemian national dress.)
Phil and Heather, bracing themselves for the 'gauntlet of papparazi'.
Beginning the walk to the wedding site.
The ceremony, ably arranged and officiated by LoveBear.

(My apologies to all those who were irritated by the camera clicking and whirring all the way through. Until they invent a silent model, alas...)

Making the vows.
Pixie takes part in the ceremony.
Sealed with a kiss.
Post-wedding photo-shoot. (Dennis, the Best Man, is on the left.)
The Rabbits show off their masks, with which they were very pleased.
Disturbingly cute, aren't they?
Bard, Newlyweds and Minister.
Wanderer reads his poem. (If he hasn't yet posted it to the list, pester him to. It was good!)
Assorted yummies. Unsurprisingly, they did not last long under the onslaught of fifty-odd assorted hungry animals.
The crowd disperses.

(This photo is actually out of sequence, but I think it belongs here; after something like a wedding, the feeling of sheer togetherness gradually fades away until life is, almost, back to normal.)

(Ssssh! Be vewy, vewy qwiet! Two Wabbits sharing a tender moment.)
