The sphinx is at the foot of the pyramids, but suspected by some to be far older.
One current theory suggests (on the basis of water erosion) that the sphinx was around
before the local climite changed and the face has been altered by the ancient Eygptians.
Rumours that the sphinx can also be found on Mars are complete rubbish - the 'face'
looks nothing like such when viewed from a different angle.
